Weekend Wrap Up

October 28, 2014
The Rivulettes recently participated in the Two Nations College Prep Series tournament in Detroit.  Facing some tough competition from across North America the Rivulettes finished 5th overall from a pool of 26 teams.
On day one the Rivs came away with 1 - 0 and 2 - 1 wins over the Chicago Young Americans and Detroit Compuware respectively.  Goals were scored by Alyssa Chiarello, Nikki Zabel , and Shannon Pearson.
On the 2nd day the Rivulettes tied 0 - 0 in an overtime tie against Team Wisconsin before suffering a 2 - 1 overtime loss to the Minnesota Blades with Julia Lawrence getting the lone goal.   This put Cambridge into the 5th vs 6th place game on Sunday where the Rivs came up against a very tough Anaheim Ducks team who were the defending champions. As the game progressed the Rivs were just too strong for the Ducks and came away with a convincing 3 - 0 win.  Goals scorers were Chiarello, Pearson, and Miranda Lantz.
The team played strong defensive hockey all weekend and received contributions throughout the line up.  Special mention goes to Lauren Webber who recorded 3 shutouts in her 3 games.
Next up is a trip to Kingston, Nepean and Ottawa this weekend.
